Hello PNCWA members and friends. This is my first post to our Association blog and it comes with information on our January in-person Board meeting. For those not familiar with the Board, we meet every month - most times via conference call - except for four meetings where we have set agenda items. Our in-person meetings starts and ends with the meeting on Sunday morning at the conference We typically are wrapping things up for the year, reviewing the plan for the conference. The January meeting, which I'm reporting on here, is the budget meeting where we review submissions by committees and staff and pass the annual budget. In May, we hold our annual Advance meeting where we go over the Associations Strategic Plan and our last in-person meeting in August where we prepare for the upcoming conference.
At our meeting here in Portland last January, we approved the annual budget which is available for review on the website. We also discussed the nomination process for Board positions, reviewed the criteria the Scholarship Committee uses for recommending recipients to the Board, and operator certification requirements in each of the three states. We also reviewed the mentoring program volunteer list including the recommended matches between mentors and protegees. For those who signed up, keep an eye out for an email from David Watkins with your match and a mentoring toolkit.
And finally, I can't close without an ask for volunteers to help the Association. You have a great opportunity to help shape the quarterly newsletter by participating on the PNCWA Newsletter Editorial Advisory Group. Sheri Wantland leads the group and is looking for help in generating topics for the newsletter. You don't have to write the articles, just help find interesting subjects to keep the publication informative and useful to our members. Please email Sheri to sign up at this address.
